Flora Pro-Activ yoghurt drink available from supermarkets, get ACTIVE
Orange, strawberry and original Flora Pro-Activ yoghurt drink
available from supermarkets, £2.39 for four.

We love Flora Proactive yoghurt drinks because they kill several birds with one stone. Glug down one tasty little pot and not only do you get the digestive benefits of those 'friendly' bacteria, it is also choc-full of plant sterols. These, apparently, reduce the level of harmful LDL cholesterol, the stuff that blocks up your arteries, which may be useful if you take an ARV that affects cholesterol levels. Sterols also assist T-cell reproduction which has to be a good thing.
What's all this then?

Spirulina ,health force nutricionals, Nature's Plus Spiru-tein bar £1.40,
Healthforce Spirulina powder 149g £19.95,
Earthrise Spirulina tablets, 200 tablets £16.99.

Spirulina. Arthrospira platensis - algae to you.
The stuff that grows on ponds?
Similar, though this stuff is more likely to be specially farmed.
And why exactly would I want to eat algae?
Well, it is the richest and most complete source of nutrients found in any single food containing all eight essential amino acids, twice as much protein as chicken, ten times more beta carotene than carrots, more Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) than Evening Primrose Oil, full spectrum of vitamins and minerals, carotenoids, super oxide dismutase…
Ok, ok… but its algae. Is it safe?
It’s been eaten for over five centuries, rigorously tested over the last 20 years and is now recommended by the WHO as safe and nutritious.
So what will it do for me?
Boost energy levels, strengthen the immune system and regulate blood sugar levels thus helping to reduce food cravings.
And how do I take it?
You can mix the powder into fruit juice, but it tends to look a bit like pond water…
Ah, back to ponds again.
…Or you can take it in tablets or bars.
That sounds better - where can I get it from?
Buy from the NutriCentre and benefit from their fantastic 33 per cent off voucher.
Nice one.
