Ramon, from the Dominican
Republic, said that his work for others in HIV prevention gives him
the power and strength to accept his own positive condition. "The
fight must be against the virus, not against human beings."
And so the conference ended with delegates renewed in their activism.
As they left the Port of Spain Hilton conference centre, a venue reminiscent
of the 1960s Thunderbirds HQ, I for one hoped that many more would start
working harder in the international rescue against HIV and to improve
the human rights of all those living with the virus.
