Ugh! I've got a hangover. My stomach's churning like a choppy sea and if I'm not mistaken the wardrobe is dancing with the chest of drawers. Nausea and dizziness engulf me mercilessly so I close my eyes, lie very still and drift back into unconsciousness. When I wake some hours later my hangover is of more manageable proportions so somewhat gingerly I get out of bed to face the day.
Oddly, I really fancy a pork chop. In fact I'd go so far as to say I crave one with a carnivorous vengeance. But I haven't eaten meat for months and I gave up pork years ago along with a number of other 'toxic' substances in the pursuit of good health. It seems silly that I spend a lot of time, effort, energy and money detoxing and cleansing my body only to drown my good work with two jugs of sangria, several cold beers and a brandy! What is it all about?
When I was first diagnosed I was fascinated by long-term survivors and how or what they did to stay healthy. I guess I was looking for the secret of survival because at 32 I certainly wasn't ready to die yet - if ever.
