Brighton rocks!

I am writing regarding the article 'some HIV clinics are in the worst NHS hospitals' (Positive Nation, Nov. issue). I feel that this article may cause unnecessary concern to people attending the Brighton clinic by implying that they may be receiving suboptimal care. The article made no attempt to examine how the star rating relates to HIV services. Thanks to a programme of extensive development over the last five to six years, and to a highly motivated clinic workforce, HIV patients in Brighton have access to an impressive standard of care, and a wide range of clinical trials. Brighton HIV patients also have a voice in how their clinic is run thanks to the establishment of the Patients' Representative - currently myself - who has direct links and input to the clinic's management team.
Paul Clift, HIV Patients' Representative, Brighton
We will be interviewing Paul and other clinic reps about 'patient power' in the next issue - ed.

Where were you all?
As a man who has been positive for 15 years, it was disappointing to see that only about 30 people turned up to the World Aids Day service at St. Martins-in-the-Fields. Is it because people don't care, or it wasn't advertised enough? In an era of HIV losing its public awareness, we should as a community stand together on an

international day of recognition for people all over the world that have died or are suffering this terrible disease. Let us not forget. Warren, London N1
