DOCTORS or DOCTRINES?
positive nation

Senior church leaders Bishop John Sentamu (Bishop for Stepney), Bishop John Perry (Bishop of Chelmsford) and Forest Gate's Reverend Elias

Moyo also attended and spoke about the power of prayer and medicine working together. "I welcome partnership working with those in the medical profession. As clergy we might not be well-informed without this leaflet, it addresses a need; greet it, explain it and share it with others," said Revd Moyo. Bishop Perry agreed saying: "I am delighted by the advent of HIV medications, backed up by a God of infinite proportion and compassion."
The leaflet (pictured above) gives very simple facts around HIV transmission and how Christians with HIV, who pray for healing, should also respect the value of medicines and treatment in the healing process. Clear examples also show how medicines help people live healthier lives.

Moono Nyambe who attended the meeting for PosNation said: "A leaflet like this is just one small step in solving a complex problem facing a lot of religious people with HIV. It is, however, a start. The day's event was also about celebrating a positive feeling for the launch of the leaflet and to support it. The West End musical sensation, UMOJA, opened the event with performances of the togetherness Swahili chant 'Umoja' and some dramatic dancing. The choir accompanied Dr Meadway at the end of the day in an impromptu version of 'Nkosi Sikelele Africa' ('God Bless Africa'), a favourite for many Africans."
