10 YEARS of PASSION
positive nation

campaigns that specifically address HIV positive gay men, all looking at coping with living with the virus in the new millennium.

Andrew McDonald, the staff member responsible for the Positive Campaign Group, describes the need for these campaigns. "With HIV, it is easy to think of yourself as damaged goods, to believe that the chance of finding true love and happiness has been snatched away.
"The reality, of course, is that it is absolutely possible for an HIV positive man to have a fulfilling sex life and rewarding relationships. The details may have changed, and negotiating may require new skills, but HIV positive men need to know that they still deserve love and happiness, just like anyone else. Through these campaigns, we hope to empower people to seek out ways to actually find what they are looking for, and ultimately lead more fulfilling lives.
"For me, the best thing about volunteering for GMFA," adds James, "is being there, with like-minded other guys. On the Heath, at Pride marches, during Love and Respect, attending meetings, in the office. No matter what, being among other gay men empowers my identity. I am strong, but more so for being able to choose to spend some of my time with other gay men, striving to put something back into, and nurture, the gay community."
