Optimum Releasing, the film's distributor, joined forces with the Elton
John Aids Foundation at The Closet's preview on 18 April to launch the
film here. A percentage of the ticket sales went to EJAF. The film is on general release from 17 May.
John Muafangejo's woodcuts and Christian Aid's Positive Negatives exhibition
features prominently in a big evening event in Oxford on 27 April to raise
funds for Aids projects in Namibia. As well as lots of art, 'Hope and
Optimism' offers an African-style supper and African drumming for entertainment,
with guest speakers also present.
Christian Aid has been showing its exhibition of photographs by Congolese
women across the
country as well as at the Africa Centre in London since last year. Contact
Christian Aid on 020 7620 4444 for details.
