Hans Bellmer's Daliesque squiggling bodies form part of a new exhibition
opening in the West End this month. The artist's etchings dissect his
subjects and seduce the viewer to
dwell on taboo creatures and images. This exhibition also focuses on
surrealist images of fashion and includes work from other Belgian artists
like Duchamp, Magritte, Hay and Breder. From 1938 to the present, there's
a lot to tickle your surrealist fancy here.
Running alongside at the gallery is 'Warhol and Rare Pre-Pop Works'. The
emphasis of this collection is the feminine motif in the work of Warhol
and other Pop artists. So we have Andy's Jackie Kennedy, Red Shoe
with Paisley Stocking and 60s rarity Wrapping Paper, with Roy Lichtenstein's
Crying Girl and gems from Basquiat, Bob Stanley and Gavin Turk.
Both exhibitions opened with benefit parties for Crusaid and both
