Mr 'D' has been in the paint industry all his life. But his passion
is roses. He also has a life-threatening illness. Rosetta Life, an artist-led
charity for people affected by life-threatening illnesses, has taught
D to use their digital arts service that they run and he has now created
the Perfect Rose on eight panels.
The Perfect Rose and other artistic works feature as part of 'My Big Adventure'
- an evening of creativity - recently staged at London's Global Café.
Another Rosetta Life project is the film called 'Angels and Dragons' which
was shown at Brixton's Ritzy Cinema as part of the Rosetta Life exhibition
series running this month. The
15-minute film was scripted by Jean Marc Vives who has lived with HIV
for 17 years. It aims to show life and death, and HIV in a different light
and features various HIV positive people like Thandi Haruperi and Darren
Ravenor (who have worked closely with Blackliners the south London-based
African HIV organisation). Rosetta Life produced and directed the film.
Both exhibitions culminate at The Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday 25 June
in a 'Voice Box' performances where a panel including Robert McCrum -
literary editor of The
Observer - hosts an evening of lively discussion on the unusual topic
of laughter, dying and PG Wodehouse.
