The answer is that there are a lot more benefits besides buying time.

Remember that healing and health cannot be achieved through guilt and
self-punishment. They can only be achieved and sustained through education,
understanding, love and compassion. We can learn why our body needs exercise,
we can understand why we have difficulty exercising, we can love ourselves
through exercise and we can have compassion for ourselves on those days
we just can't face it.
These things are often especially difficult if we have HIV. This particular
infection has been branded with so much stigma, shame and fear by society
that it can infect our hearts with lack of self-respect, self-hatred,
and despair. These feelings are profoundly immunosuppressive and it is
vital that we protect ourselves from this relentless projection of hatred
and fear into our hearts by loving and caring for ourselves.
To support our body's self-healing capacity, we have to soul-search and
ask ourselves if we are ready to make such a lifelong commitment to a
healing partnership.
