One in 10 of those who responded to the survey are black, of which the vast majority are living with HIV, and half of which are African or Caribbean HIV positive women. One seventh of respondents were women, and one fifth were HIV positive heterosexuals.
Another one in eight of our respondents were HIV negative men. Those negative men were more likely than others to be unaware of any HIV periodical other than Positive Nation. A lot of negative men, presumably most of them gay, are flipping through us in the bars.
Our personal PosNation subscribers are, however, very loyal.
Ninety-six per cent of subscribers read every issue. Surprisingly, a lot of people still don't seem aware that they can subscribe FREE to Positive Nation if they have HIV.
You're tending towards middle age: your average age is 39. This is not that surprising, given that the average age at HIV diagnosis has crept up over the course of the epidemic, and is in the 30-35 age group these days. But we're doing a good job reaching newly-diagnosed people. Nearly four in ten of you have been diagnosed

for less than five years.
