Sir Elton blasts PM on prevention

Sir Elton John has said that Tony Blair should be "thoroughly ashamed" of his government's record on HIV and Aids prevention. Interviewed at the Vienna Life Ball Aids fundraiser, Sir Elton said: "I hate to say that, because I did vote for them, but I'm disgusted with the way health services in England are operating." He said Labour's record on Aids was worse than under the previous Tory government, adding: "Let's get our act together, it's a disgrace."
New support service in East Anglia
The Positive Living Project in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk has launched a new peer support group for HIV positive people in the region. The service will offer HIV positive people an opportunity to share hopes and anxieties, and to combat the isolation of living with the virus in a remote rural area. For details of the project, telephone Brian at Fightback Trust on 01502 531300 or email: Plpat160@aol.com

DO YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CHANNEL 4 DOCUMENTARY?
Channel 4 is making a documentary about the state of the nation's sexual
health. We are looking for people who have HIV, and/or people who have had
a sexually transmitted infection, to take part in the programme. Through
personal stories, we hope to remove some of the stigma and public
preconceptions about the types of people who get HIV and STIs. This will be
a campaigning and educational film where we aim to break down some of the
taboos and misinformation surrounding sex and encourage safer sex practice.

If you would be interested in sharing your story and telling people what you think they should know

about HIV or STIs, please call Jane Springthorpe on 0207813 9564 or 07967 154 163. Or email her at: jane.maverick@virgin.net        Please respond before the end of August.
