A daring Aids prevention campaign aimed at male homosexuals was launched last month in Brazil. One advert boldly says: "Use a condom with your boyfriend", while another shows a son hugging his father who says: "It's OK, son. You'll find a guy who deserves you - who'll use a condom" The aim of the campaign is to decrease the growing rate of HIV infections among young gay men, which is ten times higher than among women in Brazil.

Zimbabwe facing 'impossible HIV/Aids crisis'

Zimbabwe has become the first country in the world to declare a national HIV/Aids emergency, which could enable it to ignore drug patents and import cheap generic antiretrovirals.
"In view of the rapid spread of HIV/Aids among the population of Zimbabwe, the Minister hereby declares an emergency for a period of six months for the purpose of enabling the State to make or use any patented drug," Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa said.
Following Botswana, where one in three adults is HIV positive, Zimbabwe has the second-highest HIV infection rate in the world - one in four people.
Local health officials say that more than 600,000 Zimbabweans died from Aids in the

last five years, while around two million others are HIV positive. It is estimated that up to 2,500 people die every week of Aids, mostly aged 15-
