Annual HIV tests urged for gays
New guidelines from the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) advise all sexually active gay and bisexual men to have an HIV test at least once a year.

Rates of syphilis and gonorrhoea are up among gay men in many cities, the CDC say, and health officials are concerned that these diseases could signal a big hike in HIV and Aids rates. The recommendations also suggest annual screening for chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhoea as well as vaccinations against hepatitis A and B.
