More than 15,000 people are coming to the 14th International Aids Conference
in Barcelona this month. For more than a week, my city will be the world
capital of Aids. Scientists, activists, doctors, educators, politicians,
nurses, sociologists, sales reps, psychologists, volunteers, the infected
and the affected, people from every corner of the world will be there.
They will attend lectures, debates, symposia, workshops, art exhibitions,
smart dinners, demos, parades. They will share knowledge and experience,
meet new people, establish and strengthen ties, plan projects and emerge
with a renewed commitment to defeat Aids. Or at least that is my hope. |
