And of these, how many have HIV? 6,900. So only
one in 340 DLA claimants has HIV, and only one in five
people with HIV gets DLA. Which, considering that a lot of us still have
considerable health problems, ain't bad.
What are the rest of us doing? Either subsisting on a minute amount of
income support or - increasingly - working, and therefore more than making
up for the £6,000 or so a year we cost the NHS.
So let's hear a little less about HIV dole layabouts in future, and let's
be treated a little more like the economically productive people many
of us are!
