Fewer flagships, more money
In your article Into
the Unknown (PN June) you presume that all health authorities actually
deliver good quality treatment and care for HIV positive people. But it
is the quality of care that makes a difference, not who controls the purse
strings. Treatment and care for people with HIV is underfunded, certainly.
But in the accompanying GMFA insert, I also read that Redbridge and Waltham
Forest's extravagant long-running flagship adherence programme has no
evidence to show that it actually improves adherence. It is a source of
great frustration to see enormous funding go to ineffective programmes.
The most obvious way to improve treatment adherence is via adequate care.
We need to join forces with other groups demanding good quality equal
healthcare for everyone.

That ol' X-factor
Thanks for your email asking me if my advert on the PN website had worked.
Well, I had quite a number of replies, but so far no one has impressed
me online. This is not funny anymore 'cos men are running after me in
tens and thousands wanting to marry me. But I do not want to cause any
problems for anyone and myself, and just the thought of telling someone
about my 'x factor', and being deserted afterwards, is really giving me
the creeps. If only I could get what I want, not just any ol' thing with
the x factor but a real man. As for me, I am living a positive healthy
life, taking good care of myself, believing in God, and looking forward
to meeting my Mr Right, settling
