UK 'not a soft touch' for asylum

Research commissioned by the Home Office dispels the tabloid press myth that the UK is a 'soft touch' for asylum seekers.
The Refugee Council said: "Far from coming to the UK because they thought it a 'soft touch', none of the asylum seekers interviewed indicated that the UK was thought to offer more generous support than other destinations."
Positive Futures
In our piece on HIV and work in September's Positive Nation ('Your Body of Work'), we said that the Positive Futures Placement service was becoming The Job Club. In fact, the two services still remain separate: the Placement Service can get people work experience for whatever reason (it doesn't have to be about returning to work), and the Job Club provides advice on getting jobs. For details, contact Positive Futures on 020 7564 2188.
