energy fixes to boost us when we are starting to flag.
A strong coffee can wake us up in the morning, but will still be stimulating
our body 10 hours later. Avoiding strong coffee or tea after lunchtime
will prevent sleep problems later.
Cocaine, speed and crystal meth are far longer-acting stimulants, and
will keep our body on red alert and immunosuppressed even while we 'sleep'.
Sleeping pills sedate the mind only, and have no effect on reversing the
physical immunosuppression induced by these drugs.
Sleeping pills, tranquilisers, herbs and potions can all sedate our minds,
but don't induce deep peaceful restorative sleep. Only we can do that,
through creating a peaceful environment for sleep, and peace in our mind,
heart, body and soul.
Alcohol is a popular remedy for sleep, but more than two units of alcohol
before bed can suppress deep restful sleep, leaving us drained and sleepy
the following morning. Try a hot milky drink before bedtime each night
instead. This can help maintain our blood sugar during sleep, and act
as a regular signal to our body that it's now bedtime.
