Elton & David ride to the rescue in Lesotho

Sir Elton John and partner David Furnish have donated 120 motorcycles to help doctors and nurses to deliver health care to remote areas in the mountainous southern African republic of Lesotho.

The donation forms part of the Riders for Health programme funded by the Elton John Aids Foundation.

“We want to improve the transport system by bringing health care to millions of people in the most rural areas and thus making a difference in their lives,” Sir Elton said. Lesotho is one of Africa’s poorest countries and most affected by the HIV and Aids pandemic.

Over 23 per cent of the adult population in the country are HIV positive.
