Date for Crusaid’s Walk for Life 2010 21st birthday extravaganza confirmed

HIV and AIDS charity Crusaid has confirmed Sunday 6th June 2010 as the date of Crusaid’s Walk for Life; Europe’s largest fundraising walk for HIV and AIDS. Thousands of people – clad in fancy dress and walking shoes – will be taking vital steps to help people in desperate need by helping Crusaid to raise much-needed funds and celebrate 21 years of help and hope.

Crusaid’s Walk for Life 2010 will be a 21st Birthday extravaganza – with all funds raised going towards Crusaid’s work supporting adults and children affected by HIV and AIDS living in poverty. Starting at 10am, the event kicks off at Potters Fields Park, London Bridge and takes walkers on a 10km stroll taking in some of the capital’s most stunning iconic attractions such as the London Eye, Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. Upon their return, all walkers will be rewarded with a spectacular entertainment show at the post-walk party.

In true party spirit, walkers taking part this year will be encouraged to show off their creative sides and complete the course in their fanciest of fancy dress costumes. Crusaid is keen to raise more money than ever before to help adults and children living in poverty affected by HIV and AIDS and hope that this year’s event attracts more people than ever before.

Jordan Hay, Chief Executive said, “Crusaid’s Walk for Life is a day where people join together in the fight against HIV and AIDS and recognise that the pandemic has not gone away. We really hope that this year even more people come out to support the cause and help us celebrate 21 years of help and hope for people affected by this illness.”

Crusaid was founded in 1986 as a response to the worsening levels of poverty and stigma attached to HIV and AIDS. Since the first event in 1989, Crusaid’s Walk for Life has grown year by year, attracting a huge amount of support from people of all walks of life including a number of famous faces. Last year thousands of people took part in Crusaid’s Walk for Life raising a staggering £325,000.

“This year promises to be extra-special as Crusaid’s Walk for Life turns 21! Crusaid’s Walk for Life is our largest fundraising event and it plays such a huge part in helping us to raise the important funds to help those most in need living with HIV and AIDS. I can’t stress enough how grateful we are for all the support we have received from our supporters over the years whom without, there would be no Crusaid’s Walk for Life,” added Hay.
