MADGE HITS FIVE ZERO
Dolly Parton, Poison Ivy and Catwoman all have one thing in common: Artist Wayne Moraghan immortalized each of them. Now, to celebrate her big five oh, Madonna has been honored with the same treatment.
The Scottish artist is taking the Material Girl's birthday and turning it into a charity event. With the number 50 still firmly in mind, half of all the money raised by the 50 copies will be donated to Crusaid.
Moraghan said of his work: "I pay tribute to so many strong female characters in my work, you could say a ‘Madonna' was long overdue.
It was important to draw influence from her current image as opposed to that of the past, trying to cement her current incarnation at 50."
Crusaid has also funded programmes which support and care for people affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and internationally, and essential research projects into new treatments.
