Established in 1996, the AHPN is a high profile national advocacy organisation made up of a small team that operates exclusively at a strategic level, focusing on policy, campaigning and representation on the HIV and sexual health needs of African communities in the UK. It is an umbrella body of mostly African-led community based organisations that enables Africans to speak with a collective and representative voice on matters of HIV and sexual health. Its mission is to influence and inform national, and to a limited extent international, policies on HIV and sexual health that have implications for African communities.

The African HIV Policy Network (AHPN)

The African HIV Policy Network (AHPN) is a strategic national umbrella organisation representing African communities affected by HIV. It brings together mostly African community-based organisations and forums, and enables Africans speak with a collective and representative voice on HIV and sexual health issues. It acts as a strategic and policy advisory body to the Department of Health, other Government departments, local authorities, Primary Care Trusts, and private sector agencies.
