DVD GIVEAWAY
Hi folks,
I Just wanted to say: thank you for the DVD “AMNESIA” which you kindly sent as my competition prize – it arrived on Saturday morning: I watched it over the weekend and it is as mesmerising as they say. Me, the DVD, a disgustingly healthy salad and, thankfully, a large glass of merlot – what better way can there be to spend a Saturday pm? So, thanks again and, as always, keep up the good work.
Sam de Croy

NAMESAKE
To The Editor,
I had a letter printed in the current Positive Nation. It was a response to an article by Caroline Guinness. I was shocked to see that I had been called ‘AMY’ at the bottom of my letter, despite giving my full name (Annemarie Byrne). This defeats the object of my being ‘out and proud’ about my HIV status. If people think I am hiding behind a non de plume it looks as though I have something to be ashamed of - and this is not so. Would be grateful if you could correct this in your next issue.
Regards, Annemarie Byrne
Dear Annemarie,
Regarding you letter dated 25 April 2008. I can only apologize for not printing your full name. As you are probably aware disclosure in the magazine is a sensitive issue and all letters we receive are printed anonymously unless otherwise requested by the writer apologies and it wont happen again.
Best wishes PN
INVESTIGATION
Dear Positive Nation,
It’s really good to see the magazine back in circulation after the sad demise of the UKC. Who I must say did some really good work over many years. As an HIV+ person living in South London there is a real lack of services. I have been doing some investigative work into the AIDS support grant and in many cases councils are diverting funding into unrelated areas like Fostering. Can you please print my letter to make other HIV+ taxpayers aware of what is happening to funding? Can you also look into this issue and write an article on this I have most of the facts and figures and are willing to name and shame those responsible.
Name and address supplied.

Dear Positive Nation,
I am saddened that the magazine is now a profit making venture. The magazine should not be making money out of the suffering of others. Also why is the magazine only coming out quarterly? Is it about Profit? We need it to come out more often as it’s the only support many of us have.
Name and address supplied.
Dear Writer,
Thanks for your letter, as a HIV+ reader for the last three years. I was saddened that the magazine closed and decided that the magazine had to be saved.Over the last few months we have invested in ensuring the magazine is financially stable and have invested in a new website. Believe me then I say we make no profit. We have increased the circulation to allow for the less frequency and are planning to increase the number of issues per year to six. Sugar Media are also in the process of donating the magazine to a not for profit organization to ensure that every penny paid supports the continued success of Positive Nation “The UK’s HIV and sexual health magazine”.
Regards as always PN
Unfortuanately we only have space to print some of the letters we receive. For more letters and replies go to our website
