INDEPENDENT ADVISORY GROUP ON SEXUAL HEALTH AND HIV

Vacancies for 4 members
The Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV (IAG) was set up in 2003 to support implementation of the National Strategy for Sexual Health and HIV, published in 2001. The strategy aims to: reduce the transmission of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs); reduce the prevalence of undiagnosed HIV and STIs; reduce unintended pregnancy rates; improve health and social care for people living with HIV and STIs and reduce the stigma associated with HIV and STIs.
We are looking to appoint 4 new members to the Group to take up post later this summer.
The people
We are looking for three members who are in a senior national voluntary sector role in the field of sexual and reproductive health and HIV. We are also looking for one member with experience of HIV/sexual health strategic planning/commissioning of services across more than one PCT, at a strategic health authority or in specialised commissioning. All members must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to contribute at board level.
The role
You will work alongside the Chair and other members as part of a team to contribute to the work and overall strategic direction of the IAG. You will contribute towards developing the advice the IAG gives to Ministers and you must be willing to speak publicly on the Government’s strategy if necessary.
Time commitment and remuneration
The Group holds 4 full day meetings a year in London. Additionally, selected members may also be asked to attend sub group or smaller working group meetings as directed by the Chair. Members are entitled to an attendance allowance of £119.50 plus £25 reading fee per day. Necessary travel and subsistence allowances, at rates set centrally, are also payable.
The appointments will be for 4 years in the first instance. Further terms may be considered, subject to satisfactory performance and the needs of the Group.
